Where Thai Tradition Meets Fusion

Innovation

In the heart of our neighbourhood lies a culinary gem where Thai tradition

intertwines with innovative fusion dishes, creating an unforgettable dining

experience. Welcome to Rose’s Kitchen, a labor of love owned by

husband-and-wife duo, Mike and Toom.

Their journey began in the bustling city of Houston, where fate brought

them together while working at a Japanese restaurant. Little did they know,

their shared passion for food would eventually lead them to Austin in 2013,

where they embarked on a culinary adventure of their own.

Toom immersed herself in the local culinary scene, honing her skills in

various restaurants, while Mike found employment at Abuelo’s, a Tex-Mex

eatery. However, the closure of Abuelo's due to the COVID-19 pandemic

presented an unexpected opportunity for Mike and Toom to pursue their

dream of owning their own restaurant.

With determination and resilience, they opened their first establishment

within the humble confines of a Shell station off Manchaca. Despite its

modest beginnings, Rose’s Kitchen quickly gained a loyal following, drawn

by its innovative Thai fusion cuisine and warm hospitality. After two years of

success, Mike and Toom made the bold decision to relocate to a larger

location off Twin Creek Rd. Here, they’ve created a dining oasis where

guests can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse

themselves in a world of flavor and ambiance.

When asked about their journey into the restaurant industry, Mike reflects,

You don't decide to start in the restaurant industry. The restaurant industry

chooses you; Indeed, both Mike and Toom’s backgrounds are steeped in a

love for food and hospitality. Toom’s family in Thailand has always been in

the hospitality industry, while Mike’s father, despite his medical career,

harbored a secret passion for cooking. This familial connection to food and

tradition is evident in every dish served at Rose’s Kitchen, where flavors

evoke memories of home and heritage.

The foundation of Rose’s Kitchen is deeply rooted in the cherished

memories and culinary traditions passed down from Toom’s late

grandmother, her mother, and her uncle. Their recipes, passed down

through generations, are the heart and soul of the menu. From the aromatic

spices to the intricate flavors, every dish at Rose’s Kitchen is a tribute to

the rich culinary heritage that Toom holds dear. Often, as she recreates her

family recipes, she finds herself overcome with emotion after realizing her

prepared dish tastes just like her grandmother’s. It’s this deep emotional

connection that sets Rose’s Kitchen apart. Each dish is inspired not only by

the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine but also by the enduring bonds of family

and Toom’s Thai heritage. Their 16-year-old daughter, Mimie, has also

become an integral part of the restaurant, joining her parents in the kitchen

and learning the intricacies of Thai cuisine. Each year, she travels back to

Thailand to visit her grandparents, returning with suitcases filled with spices

and curries to infuse into the restaurant's dishes.

Beyond the food, what sets Rose’s Kitchen apart is its inviting ambiance

and commitment to customer satisfaction. With jazz music filling the air,

twinkling string lights, and a relaxed outdoor seating area, guests are

encouraged to bring their kids and furry friends and simply relax.

So whether you’re craving the bold flavors of brisket spring rolls or seeking

a cozy spot for a romantic evening, Rose’s Kitchen welcomes you with

open arms and a promise of culinary delight.  So, If you find yourself craving a taste of something
